PU’s PMIR dept holds induction programme

Patna University (PU)’s personnel management and industrial relations (PMIR) department organized an induction meet for the newly- admitted postgraduate students of the current academic session (2023-24) here on Saturday. The students of two other academic programmes, namely, postgraduate in rural management and development and PG diploma in industrial safety management run by the department, also joined the induction meet.

Speaking as the chief guest on the occasion, National Thermal Power Commission’s assistant general manager Onkarnath, who is also an alumnus of the department, asked the students to devote maximum time in studies so that they could easily compete in various examinations and secure good jobs. He said the students must set their goal in life and labour hard to achieve it.
PMIR department head Kameshwar Pandit presented in detail the curriculum and continuous internal assessment of the academic programme and also apprised them with the faculty members of the department. Students were told about the various facilities available for them in the department. Department’s faculty member Supriya Krishnan welcomed the guests and students. Ripunjay Kumar of rural studies programme conducted the programme.

Programme to motivate poor students to continue education
The Chamarajanagar district administration in Mysuru has launched a program to support disadvantaged and underperforming students in continuing their education. The program aims to help students pass the SSLC exam and continue to higher education. It has identified 266 students from tribal communities, single-parent households, and those orphaned due to Covid. The administration has assigned responsibility to taluk BEOs and welfare departments to guide and motivate the students. The APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University concluded its week-long induction programme at the College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram. The Vice Chancellor highlighted the need for colleges and universities to provide opportunities for skill development. In other news, the Chamarajanagar district administration in Mysuru has launched a program to support disadvantaged students, the Chief Minister of Karnataka called for education to promote inclusivity, and Oakridge International School in Bengaluru conducted a university fair to help students make informed choices about higher education.
JITO launches programme to help underprivileged students
The Jain International Trade Organisation (JITO) has launched the JITO Education Assistance Programme (JEAP) to provide financial support to deserving students for higher education. The program aims to sponsor up to 2,000 students by 2024 and enrolling 216 donor members. The application process is fully digitized, allowing students to easily register and submit documents online. JEAP's objective is to empower underprivileged students and promote the importance of education.
